Childhood’s End is the second and final large oil painting in my exploration of Fra Angelico’s visual language, following The Annunciation of Collapse, which is currently on view at B.East Gallery in Florence. This new work emerges from a place where the personal and the contemporary meet; shaped by the tragedies unfolding around us, the shifting public discourse that tries to understand them, and the quiet, tender awareness that comes from watching my own child grow older and begin to step beyond the world of childhood. In this painting, these threads weave together, bringing history, catastrophe, tenderness, and time into a single reflection on what is lost, what is changing, and what remains deeply and stubbornly human. .
